As guarantor on my nephew's rented property the landlord says I am responsible for evicting him: is this correct?
I am the guarantor for my nephew's rented property. I paid 400 pounds out but the landlord keeps telling me it is my responsibility to remove him from the property. Is this correct and is the money paid out all I can lose if he has problems moving him?
It is the landlord's job to evict a tenant not a guarantor's. Your exposure is dependent upon the terms of the guarantee. Ordinarily the guarantor guarantees all monies that may be due from the tenant. This would include outstanding rent and any costs for cleaning the property and repairing any damage.
