Can I buy a house to rent out whilst remaining resident in my housing association house?

I currently live in a housing association flat and I am looking to buy a house with my long term partner in which we do not plan to live together till marriage. As we are unable to pay the mortgage as we make low income we would rent the house out to cover some of the mortgage, but would I still be able to live in my housing association house as I can pay there rent and council tax?

If you can find a lender to provide a mortgage in these circumstances then this will not affect your right to occupy your current residence.
