Do I have to give my marital status in order to obtain house insurance?
Do I have to give my marital status in order to obtain house insurance? I see no good reason for it and am worried about protecting personal details with regard to identity fraud.
The only reason they ask you to do so is as part of the credit checking
process. If you apply in person through a broker then this step may be
eliminated but you may pay slightly more for your insurance as a result.
Our view is that this question is obsolete and with sufficient pressure it will be removed from insurance proposal forms.
