Do I need to declare a burglary which took place 5 years ago when we sell our house?
We had a burglary more than 5 years ago. If we sell our property will we have to put it on the forms supplied by solicitors and what is the penalty if we don't declare it.
You have to give honest answers to any question. If you are asked about burglary and fail to declare then the buyer could potentially seek to recover the cost of moving again if they can prove they would not have bought.
It is an unusual question which is unlikely to be asked so you should not be too worried. Always be honest. Better to lose the sale than worry forever after.
If you want to see the standard forms that you would need to complete - just ask us.
