How can I save my home from repossession? I have been ordered to vacate by a court and given 28 days notice to vacate the property...

I have run up several months of mortgage arrears and now a court has ordered my eviction but I have only been given a few days notice to vacate by my lender. Is there any way I can save my home from repossession?

To get to the point of an eviction notice there must have been a court hearing at which it was ordered that you should vacate.

If you didn't attend those hearings and you wish to save your house it is still possible to apply to the court. You will almost certainly be allowed to stay if you can afford to make ongoing payments - have you tried negotiation?

The court hearing was likely to have given you 28 days notice. This is common practice.

You can immediately apply to the court for more time and it may be possible to reach an arrangement with your lender where payment of your arrears is spread out through the remaining mortgage term.

2. Apply to the court for a stay of any proceedings.
