Injunction placed on property to stop sale or transfer as person claims they have a financial interest in it...

I have recently purchased a property, but an injunction has been put on this property to stop sale or transfer. The person concerned claims they borrowed the money for the purchase of the property, which is not true, they had in fact owed money to me and are now saying they contributed to the property purchase and want to be named as the guarantor. There are no contracts to support this version of events. How can I lift this injunction order quickly with minimum legal costs?

A restriction on dealing with the property is usually what is used rather than an injunction.

Such restrictions are administered by the Land Registry and the person placing the restriction can be 'warned off' . These are reasonably complicated procedures.

If, as you say, your grandmother does not owe any money and these people have no interest then she can instruct a lawyer and expect to recover her legal costs. She may also have legal expenses insurance which would cover such proceedings.

We can appoint a lawyer to assist your grandmother but would need her to give us instructions. In the first instance come back to us by email so we can set the process in motion or call our First Response team on 0800 037 1066.
