Neighbour is claiming damage to party wall resulted from fitting of kitchen cupboards and has invoice me for repairing the "damage" - what can I do?
My neighbour is claiming damage to the party wall following my installation of a new kitchen cupboards. I think the claim is unjustified as at the time they said it was a hairline crack to the plaster. They have now invoiced me for over £900 - I have not admitted liability and do not want to provide them with details of my insurance - what should I do?
You need to resolve this and an expert inspection by your insurers is likely to be the only sensible solution. Your 'defence' is that you were only doing what any normal householder would do and therefore if their house is falling apart this is not your problem.
You could simply refuse to pay and see what they do next.
