We have a shared water supply which goes across our kitchen ceiling into our neighbour's property. How do we stand legally about removing this pipe?
We live in a semi-detached property and a shared water service enters our property and then a pipe goes across our kitchen ceiling and through the wall into our neighbour's property. We want to decorate our kitchen and the pipe is extremely ugly so we would like to remove it. How do we stand legally? We are happy to give time for our neighbour to arrange a new water meter.
Your neighbour probably has the right to a supply of water but it sounds like you would both be better off with an independent supply. You will need to check your neighbour's Deeds filed at the Land Registry to find out his rights. We can get a lawyer to do this for you if you wish.
