Who has right of way at the back of my terraced property?

Who has right of way at the back of my terraced property? Is it the adjacent property owner or anyone who wishes to visit the adjoining property owners i.e. family and friends? Do I have rights of privacy by prohibiting access to anyone except for property owners? The terrace is a block of six houses and I live next to the end.

Presumably there is footpath which runs across the back of the houses in the terrace. If this is the case then in all probability all the houses in the terrace have a right of way over the footpath and it can be used by the various owners as well as their friends and visitors. However, without looking at your Title Deeds it is impossible to give a definite answer.

We offer a fixed fee Deeds review and advice service including obtaining any necessary further information from the Land Registry for £125 + VAT. Please let us know if you would like to take up this service.

I will ask one of our legal counsellors to call you to go through your case in detail. The service is confidential, there are no costs associated with the call and there is no obligation of any kind.

We hope this information answers your question and that you found our free service fast, comprehensive and useful. We answer questions on any legal matter so please tell anyone else who you think might benefit from our free assistance.
